The new town of Whitefish, created in 1905, grew rapidly, which presented many opportunities for making a living.

Old chain drive, red, hard tire truck, ca 1917. Photo taken in Kalispell on First Avenue East. The building on the far right is where First National Bank used to be located. At the wheel is B.F. Cheever, and Bob LaBlanc stands with his foot on the running board. They had a Whitefish-Kalispell freight business which they started in about 1914 with horses.
